How should I care for my Diamond and Gold Jewelry?

As strange as it may sound, storing your jewelry in individual plastic zip lock bags is the best way to ensure their longevity. This will prevent scratches and tangling. It will keep some harder materials (like gemstones) from banging against and scratching or damaging the softer ones (like pearls). Also, storing necklaces and bracelets flat and not hanging keeps the stringing material from stretching. You should clean your jewelry every now and then by dipping it in a warm water and a mild dishwashing detergent solution. (no pearls!) Use a toothbrush to get into those hard to clean areas. To dry your piece, use a soft cloth or a hair dryer. Pearls are quite soft and can absorb liquids. It is best to apply any makeup or perfume before putting on pearl jewelry. Also, wiping pearls periodically with a soft cloth will maintain their brilliance by preventing a buildup of your skin's natural oils.
